Life has not been easy for Marlon Sánchez in the 17 years since he was born. His mother abandoned him and his sister and left them with their father when Marlon was about three years old. The family struggled and Marlon had to leave elementary school, but El Hogar changed his path.

Marlon has been attending the El Hogar Agricultural School where he enjoys working with and taking care of the animals. “It fills my heart to work with animals and plants,” said Marlon. He continues to learn and wants to eventually help his family, but he also has a message for those children who are in the situation that he once was. “I would like to say to people, ‘There’s an institution I went to, El Hogar. I want you to go there. Please don’t stay on the streets,’” said Marlon. “Everything is hard, but nothing is impossible.”
