Our sponsorship program offers a relationship with a specific child. They will write to you a few times throughout the year, and if you would like, you are encouraged to write to them. Our children are very moved by the interest, love and caring they feel through this sponsorship program; they know someone far away cares enough about them to help support them at El Hogar

There are three kinds of sponsorship:
Educational - $600 a year or $50/month
Housing - $900 a year or $75/month
Full - $1500 a year or $125/month

To begin a sponsorship, please fill out our application form indicating what type of sponsorship you would like to begin. Write out a check (tax-deductible) made out to El Hogar Ministries and mail to:

Walkathons are great ways to have fun and raise money.
If you are interested in organizing a walk, please contact us at: info@elhogar.org or 781-729-7600.

Our sponsorship program provides food, shelter, health care, clothing and education for our 250 students. However, the cost of a sponsorship does not cover all of these daily, ongoing expenses, and not all of our children are sponsored. We strive to make up this difference through unrestricted gifts, either one-time or recurring. Sometimes it is helpful to know what a donation can provide for our children. We have a program called Gifts for Daily Living, which simply shows what the dollar can buy in Honduras to care for our children’s basic ongoing needs.

Food:
$15 provides 250 oranges or bananas
$30 provides 100 lbs of flour
$50 provides 100 lbs of beans or rice
$100 provides food for a day for all children at the Technical Institute or EH
$250 provides food for a day for all 250 children

Education:
$500 provides curriculum materials for all elementary classrooms for one year
$1000 provides teacher training for all teachers for one year
$2000 provides workshop materials for one shop for one year
$5000 provides an average elementary school teacher salary for one year

As always, we are so very grateful for your help in transforming the lives of these children born into such desperately poor situations.

Our Emergency Medical Fund provides money to be used for an unexpected medical expense for any of our children. This fund has provided heart surgery, ear surgery, complex GI surgeries and head injury medical help over the past several years. Read Rev. Our Children’s Activities Fund allows us to take the children on special outings, such as trips to museums, parks and, movies. These activitivies are not covered as a part of our operating budget.

The Christmas Fund is a way sponsors can give a gift to their child at Christmas time that does not involve sending a package. It is difficult with our shipping program to get Christmas presents to El Hogar in time for the holidays. We have set up the Christmas Fund as a way for our staff to provide something special, not only during Christmas, but throughout the year. This fund allows each child to be treated equally and to celebrate the holidays in a Honduran manner, which does not emphasize gift giving as much as showing Christmas joy with a new article of clothing.

Mission teams travel to El Hogar for a week and spend time doing a project for the school, and becoming acquainted with our children. Teams learn to be servants to others and see the transformation of the lives of these boys. Read more about how you can join an El Hogar work team.

El Hogar has a professional top quality dental clinic on the grounds of El Hogar, thanks to the generous work and support of Christ Church, St. Michaels in Maryland and Dr. Jim Campi. We are hosting several dental work teams per year to provide dental care for all of El Hogar. For many, many years thoughtful donors and friends of El Hogar have been sending goods and supplies to El Hogar. It is through this kindness that we have clothing, medicine and school supplies for our boys. This is has been a tremendous help to our program and has saved us precious money. Recently we have felt the need to reevaluate our shipping program to best serve our program.
