Our sponsorship program offers a relationship with a specific child. They will write to you a few times throughout the year, and if you would like, you are encouraged to write to them. Our children are very moved by the interest, love and caring they feel through this sponsorship program; they know someone far away cares enough about them to help support them at El Hogar

There are three kinds of sponsorship:
Educational - $600 a year or $50/month
Housing - $900 a year or $75/month
Full - $1500 a year or $125/month

To begin a sponsorship, please fill out our application form indicating what type of sponsorship you would like to begin. Write out a check (tax-deductible) made out to El Hogar Ministries and mail to:

There are many needs at El Hogar. An unrestricted gift of $60 feeds 80 little children for one day. $500 pays a teacher’s salary for one month. $100 buys drinking water at the Farm for one year. $1000 feeds all 200 children for one week. Please make checks out to El Hogar Ministries.

Our Emergency Medical Fund provides money to be used for an unexpected medical expense for any of our children. This fund has provided heart surgery, ear surgery and head injury medical help over the past 3 years. Read Rev. Kunz's observations about healthcare conditions in Honduras here.

Our Children’s Activities Fund allows us to take the children on special outings, such as trips to museums, parks and, movies. These activitivies are not covered as a part of our operating budget.

The Christmas Clothing Fund is a way sponsors can give a gift to their child at Christmas time that does not involve sending a package. It is difficult with our shipping program to get Christmas presents to El Hogar in time for the holidays. We have set up the Christmas Clothing fund as a way for our staff to provide some new clothing for each child to celebrate the holidays. This fund allows each child to be treated equally and to celebrate the holidays in a Honduran manner, which does not emphasize gift giving as much as showing Christmas joy with a new article of clothing.

Our Pension Fund provides for the case of unanticipated staff turnover. In Honduras when a teacher leaves employment, the school must pay their entire pension at once. Our turnover is small, but unexpected changes in staff plans can set back our budget without warning.

Mission teams travel to El Hogar for a week and spend time doing a project for the school, and becoming acquainted with our children. Teams learn to be servants to others and see the transformation of the lives of these boys. Read more about how you can join an El Hogar work team.

For many, many years thoughtful donors and friends of El Hogar have been sending goods and supplies to El Hogar. It is through this kindness that we have clothing, medicine and school supplies for our boys. This is has been a tremendous help to our program and has saved us precious money. Recently we have felt the need to reevaluate our shipping program to best serve our program.

There are several larger items that El Hogar needs. These change over time, but current examples include: a van, appliances such as laundry machines, mattresses, printer cartridges, etc. Rotary Clubs and churches that prefer to organize drives for more substantial specific items may be interested in these needs.
