The board of directors of El Hogar Ministries,
Inc. is a founding board that meets twice annually. This is a hands-on
working board, whose role is to provide any support necessary to
El Hogar Projects in Honduras. Principally, the board oversees
the budget, ensuring that all funds donated are applied to the
running of El Hogar Projects and the activities necessary to keep
El Hogar thriving. The board, along with the EHMI office in Winchester
Massachusetts, helps with fundraising, communications with donors,
networking, planning, and performs many organizational activities
in service of El Hogar Projects.
The Rt. Rev. Lloyd Allen, Ex-officio Board member of El Hogar Ministries, Inc.
Lloyd is the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Honduras. Prior to serving as Bishop, Rev. Allen was the rector of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
The Rt. Rev. Robert J. O’Neill, Bishop of Colorado – President Emeritus
Rob is a graduate of Texas Christian University and Berkeley Divinity School at Yale. He was ordained to the priesthood of the Episcopal Church in 1982 at Saint John’s Cathedral in Denver where he served for ten years, first as Canon Educator and then as acting Dean of the Cathedral. In 1991, he became the rector of The Parish of the Epiphany in Winchester, Massachusetts. As of 2002, Rob is the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado.
Phillip Petree - President
Phillip, a member of the board since March of 2005, has worked in the for-profit as well as the non-profit world, including time as a teacher in Mexico and the United States as well as a Development Director in a Boston-area independent school. He has served as a development consultant to parishes and boards of other Massachusetts-based organizations. He is currently working as a Search Consultant with Isaacson, Miller and running his own business as a Vocational and Career Transition Consultant.
Jane White -Treasurer
Jane is a Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Boston Trust & Investment Management Company. Prior to joining BTIM in 1995, Jane spent fifteen years at Bank of New England, where she held positions in cash management, commercial lending, and credit administration. She has taught finance at the Simmons Graduate School of Management and has served as trustee and treasurer of several local, not-for-profit organizations. Jane lives in eastern Massachusetts and is a member of Parish of the Epiphany in Winchester MA.
Rosalind Reycraft – Clerk
Ros currently lives in Burlington, Ontario. She became a board member in January 2006. Having lived in many locations, including Central America, she has been fortunate to serve on several non-profit organization boards. In Episcopal church- related activities, she has served on the vestry, outreach, ECW, and evangelism committees. She is currently a member at St. Luke’s, Burlington ON.
Sharon Holcombe – Board Member
Sharon joined the board in 2009. She recently retired from a career working for the US Government, primarily in the Dept. of Agriculture. Sharon and her husband Richard are members at Good Shepherd Church in Burke, VA.
Carolyn Martin – Board member
Carolyn is retired from a career in production design for theater, television, and feature films. She is a part-time artist and full-time volunteer. She is a Community Partner with BeadforLife, an exhibit guide at the National Underground Freedom Center, and an active member of Church of the Redeemer in Cincinnati, Ohio wher she serves as champion for Foreign Missions.
Margo Mingay - Board Member
Margo Mingay lives in Toronto. She and her husband David Winsor served as Co-Executive Directors of El Hogar from 1998 – 2000. David has been going to and supporting El Hogar since 1980 when the Project was in its second year and Margo has been involved since 1990. Margo helps with the Sponsor communications and co-ordinates the work teams going to El Hogar.
Paul Rank – Board Member
Paul lives in Cincinnati, Ohio. He worked at AT&T Bell Labs for 32 years. Since retiring, Paul has been active supporting the outreach ministries of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Cincinnati as well as being the Chairperson of the National and World Mission Commission of the Diocese of Southern Ohio and vice-president of the Episcopal Community Services Foundation (ECSF) in the Diocese of Southern Ohio.
Richard Reycraft – Board member
Richard received his BASc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. He worked at Proctor & Gamble for 35 years until he retired in 2007. During that time he managed multimillion-dollar budgets and scores of personnel as they wrestled with engineering problems for P&G. He and his wife (fellow Board member, Ros) have lived or worked in Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela.
Mary Street – Board member
With a background in education and music, Mary was founder of the Conservatory Lab Charter School in Boston MA, worked as Director of Charter Schools in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and is now a consultant to educational organizations nation-wide.
Steve Taylor - Board member
Steve previously worked as Director of Emerging Business at Verizon's Federal Network Systems group, and now works for BB&N in the Boston area. He has over 30 years experience in high tech computing and communications technology for both government and commercial customers. He is an active member of St Andrew's Episcopal Church in Wellesley MA, and serves on their outreach committee.
Murray Van Lear – Board member
Murray was a UNC undergraduate with a major in political science / international relations. He graduated from the University of Richmond law school, served four years in the US Army JAG Corps, and was a trial practitioner in Fredericksburg, Virginia for almost 40 years. He was active in Trinity Episcopal-Fredericksburg and now resides most of the time in Atlanta, Ga. He does volunteer work with the Latin American Association and for the Honduran Consulate. He frequently volunteers at el Hogar.
